Numerical investigation of dimple-texturing on the turning performance of hardened AISI H-13 steel

Forming micro-dimples nearer to the cutting edge on rack face of tungsten carbide inserts will positively influence machinability. However, it is challenging machine perfect micro-dimple dimensions by utilizing available machining techniques. Finite element analysis can be an efficient way observe dimple-texture area density, size, and various shapes inserts' This paper numerically analyses impact micro-dimple-textured in dry AISI H-13 steel using AdvantEdge (virtual finite software). Micro-dimples are formed effect dimple-textured machinability compared non-textured terms shape, density ratio. Their outcomes analysed chip-insert contact length, main force, thrust force. It observed that textured exhibit minimal force line with increasing insert life span. The abrasive wear was reduced due between chip developed inserts.
